The faculty and students of the Regional Studies department demonstrate achievements in research activities, educational and methodological work, social work, the promotion of the department's educational programs, and cooperation with employers and international partners.
The activities of the faculty are recognized at international, national, and university levels, as evidenced by departmental awards. The faculty of the Regional Studies department are recipients of awards, honorary titles, and state prizes of all degrees. For example, in 2019, K.G. Darkenov received the Ybray Altynsarin badge. In 2019, A.K. Kushkumbaev was awarded the badge "For Contributions to the Development of Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan." In 2023, K.G. Darkenov received a letter of appreciation from the State Adviser of the Republic of Kazakhstan E. Karin, as well as a letter of appreciation from the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K. Tokayev.
In 2021, J.E. Nurbayev received a grant to participate in the Central Asian and Azerbaijan Young Researchers Program (CAAFP) at George Washington University (USA). The internship period: February-June 2022. Additionally, J.E. Nurbayev received a state scientific scholarship for scientists and specialists who have made outstanding contributions to the development of science and technology.
Acting Associate Professor of the Regional Studies Department, Z.A. Kakenova, participated in international educational programs for professional development. In March and April 2022, she underwent training at the University of Michigan, USA, as part of the "Weiser Center for Europe and Eurasia, Weiser Professional Development Fellow" program. Additionally, in May 2022, Z.A. Kakenova completed the "Training in Peace and Conflict" course at the OSCE Academy in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, where she mastered methods of theoretical conflict analysis and mediation.
Starting from September 1, 2023, M.K. Bolysbekova officially began her scientific internship under the "500 Scientists" program (Bolashak scholarship) at the Research Center for Middle and Eastern Europe at Technische Universität Dresden. She also participated in the 16th Pan-European Conference on International Relations of the European International Studies Association (EISA) at the University of Potsdam.
